Apple has this software update where it generates a report of your screen usage amongst your devices. Tell me why I've been feeling like I'm short on time this past week, but have spent the most time on my devices. I can't even say phone which makes this even more sad!! I have a Mac Book, an iPad, and an iPhone and out of the 168 hours we get in a week, I've been on each a combines total of 52 hours!!! Yeah, I know most of my classes are blended classrooms meaning although it's in-class, there are online assignments or notes. To be completely honest, I've barely been doing my homework--I'll let the whole week go by and cram it in on a Sunday...just like today.
I keep this awesome agenda called a Passion Planner, gifted to me by my mentor to help me visually see all that my time goes to for time management. I've maximized and managed my time, but still feel like I'm running out of it...why?
Well, my attention has been going elsewhere. Mindlessly scrolling through Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, and Snapchat. Hanging out in the social media hubs rather than responding to my important emails, and phone calls, making time for myself, taking care of myself (and that's for another post.. your girl has been getting headaches and depriving herself of food and rest), but you get the point. I'm going through the motions of 'taking care of business' and my focus is not focused as it should be or has been. I've been really wasting a lot of time on these "free" services.
Here's a nugget of advice I received doing research on flu vaccines.
When something is advertised as FREE, you become the product.
Once I manage my attention and refocus on the things that matter most to me, I believe my time will be much better spent. Until then, I'll be working on it-- you will find me at the library with my head in my books, remembering my why, working in the pharmacy, and finishing my semester strong with straight A's.
