The Art of Pruning

Once again, I have been inspired by my plant babies. Most of them stay on a tight schedule of hydration every 3-4 days, plenty of sunshine if the weather permits, and biweekly pruning. I've recently added some baby succulents I purchased from a horticultural fundraiser for a local foliage start up so I'm learning how to take care of them all simultaneously--may have to tweak and adjust hydration time for my succulents.

It wasn't until I plucked away the withered leaves from my Grandmama's plant, that I realized what exactly I was doing--metaphorically speaking. Removing the old, to make way for the new. In all of my plant experience, whenever you remove those dead leaves and stems that become a hinderance to the healthy parts of the plant, growth becomes encouraged at an exponential rate. Almost as though the little one was waiting on me to remove the obstacle to continue to grow, and thrive all the more! There was so much build up of withered leaves on the tops of the soil, that as soon as I removed them, I saw little sprouts and buds of new leaves ready to experience life and the light of the sun.

Who knows, what if I didn't remove those dead leaves, they could've smothered and covered the new leaves from ever seeing a chance to grow!

Get rid of the old to make way for the new.

It's okay to get rid of the old, the familiar, and the convenient. How else am I going to grow and learn new things if I'm constantly remaining stagnant in living the only way I think I know how? Step out in faith, with courage, and without any expectations because

as soon as you hold onto the old, you place a limitation on yourself because you're comfortable there.

Don't allow yourself to be weighed down by those old leaves.

Realization and Reflection Takeaway:

I had to realize, people come in and out of my lives with purpose. It is a blessing those friendships didn't work out. It is a blessing I didn't get that job. It is a blessing that this is my own life to live.

God encourages me to prune those withered and dead leaves that no longer serve purpose that because He is going to do a new thing just for me.

Affirm yourself in love--always and in all ways. Great things are coming for us, sugar sweets!

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
